The Big Idea: Germanic invasions helped to break up the Roman Empire and set the stage for the development of feudal and manorial systems. Later invasions helped establish Mongol dominance in central Asia and led to the destruction of the Byzantine Empire by the Turks.

Now that you have explored and identified the various reasons that the Roman Empire declined (including the Germanic Invasions) and how Europe changed because of it, use your knowledge to complete one of the assignments below for an assessment grade.

- Describes how the various problems Western Rome was having, along with the invasion of Germanic Tribes led to its eventual decline.
- Demonstrates the political changes that occurred in Europe due to this collapse.

Create a journal or diary entry from the perspective of someone who lived through the decline of the Roman Empire and saw how it changed Europe. This should include a drawing that this person would have created that depicts something that corresponds with the content of the journal entry. You could be:

This time you must use at least two of the political cartoon techniques listed below when creating your cartoon.
